Le phare de Saint-Mathieu Le phare de Saint-Mathieu rappelle l'histoire des moines qui allumaient un feu en haut d'une tour de l'abbaye pour guider les navires en mer d'Iroise au 13e siècle. Haut de 37 m (58m au-dessus du niveau de la mer), le phare actuel est édifié en 1835 pour cause de délabrement de la tour de l'abbaye.

Incredible Views! For 3.5 euro, you can climb 168 steps up a lighthouse, which overlooks the Irish Sea and the beautiful town of Saint Mathieu. A lovely employee stood at the top and she offered to answer any questions we had about the area. Unbeatable views of the abbey ruins next door and the beautiful church.
